OBITUARIES
BRIAN KAY MANN
We regret to announce the death in July 2009 of Brian Kay Mann, after a short illness. Born in Edinburgh, he was well known to many in the decorative trade who visited his quirky showroom in the barn at Ramsbury, Wiltshire in the 1970s and 80s. Brian continued to trade in Wiltshire and maintained connections with his Scottish trade contacts until just before his death. There will be a memorial service at St Catherines Church, Holt, Wiltshire, on Friday 12 August, 2009 at 12 pm.
EMMA HURLEY
We regret to announce the death of Emma Hurley in July, 2009 following a short illness. Emma was well known in the West of England as a textile dealer and for many years was a popular exhibitor at the Bath Decorative and Antiques Fair where she always took a large stand in the foyer. She travelled to buy in France in the early 1960s and continued to do so for many years with her husband John and traded from her shop in Warminster, Wiltshire until the mid 1990s. She was a long time member of BABAADA. The funeral will take place on Tuesday 11 August, 2009 at Semington Crematorium, Wiltshire at 3.15 pm
Exciting news from MOXHAMS ANTIQUES in Bradford on Avon. A customer who had called on Havard and Havard, members in Cowbridge, South Wales, picked up a copy of the WEADA Guide and saw a piece of Delft in the Moxham Guide entry and quickly made the trip to Bradford on Avon to buy the piece for £1150. The moral of the story is "always keep Guides on display!"

- WEADA MEMBERS FIRST ANTIQUE FAIR AT TAUNTON SCHOOL
The First WEADA Members Antique Fair, held at Taunton School from 24 - 26 October, 2008 was an eagerly awaited event and proved to be a great success. It was very well attended by hundreds of visitors from the region and beyond and a number of important pieces were sold at the event.

The Fair was opened for us by David Moss who writes the Dealers Diary page in the Antiques Trade Gazette and he also conducted a "Best in Show" competition. The prize of a bottle of champagne went to James Yarrow of Yarrow from Honiton - specialist dealers in imported Oriental painted furniture and decorative accessories. David Moss thought the stand looked fresh and exciting and said that the antiques on display would work well in a formal or contemporary setting, an important consideration for interiors today.

The variety of antiques at the show was varied and impressive and included formal and semi formal furniture of all eras and styles, ceramics from two specialist ceramics dealers who both had an excellent fair, jewellery both antique and vintage which found a dedicated audience throughout the event, paintings also fared well with 20th century art in particular selling very well. Two clock dealers enjoyed a successful outing with a very good long case clock selling at the Fair. Decorative and painted furniture was also on display with French country furniture and mirrors and beautiful antique silver to tempt the collector.
Thirty-five member exhibitors took part in the Fair with a number of invited guest dealers from across the UK. All of the exhibitors are looking forward to standing at the next WEADA Members Fair, from 9 - 11 October, 2009 at Minterne House, Dorset.
The Chairman, Patrick Macintosh of The Courtyard Antiques in Sherborne, and the committee, were delighted with the success of this very special event and thanked the organisers Cooper Events Limited for the excellent job they did on our behalf.
We look forward to seeing you at our next Fair!
